WEB DEVELOPMENT

Updated: Jul 25, 2020

Before getting to the details of web development, let’s first look into a web is, and how it developed.

Let us all go back to our school days……..

During our school days, we all have heard about “WWW” right. Yes! We are…….. in the computer class.

WWW stands for World Wide Web.

Let’s come back from school days and look into the history of the Web.

In 1989, British scientist Tim Berners-Lee invented The World Wide Web (WWW). It was developed basically to meet the demand for automated information-sharing among scientists at universities and institutes around the world.

In March 1989, Tim Berners-Lee first sent a proposal to develop a distributed information system, and in May 1990, he also sent it for a second time with a slightly edited version. The proposal was fully outlined the main concepts and defined the web's important terms. The document is described as a "hypertext project" and named "WorldWideWeb" where "browsers" could view a "database" of "hypertext documents." He’d had the first Web server and browser running for CERN by the end of 1990, demonstrating his ideas.

The design of the WWW allowed quick access to existing information and an early web page linked to useful CERN scientist’s information. Primarily a search facility relied on keywords just because in the early years there were no search engines.

Web development:

Web development is the research involved in creating an Internet website (World Wide Web) or a private network (Intranet). Web development can range from simply creating a single static plain text website to complex web-based internet applications (web apps), electronic businesses, and social network services. Web engineering, web design, web content creation, client liaison, client-side/server-side scripting, web server and network security configuration, and e-commerce development may include a more extensive list of tasks commonly referred to by web developers.

Web development is not focused on the website design; instead, it is all about the coding and programming that enables the website to function. From the simplest, modest web pages to large social media networks and applications, from e-Commerce websites to content management systems, web developers build all those resources that we use on the internet in our everyday lives.

Finally, we come to web developers in web development - right? Yes, we do require a web developer to develop a web when companies have a concept.

A web developer is a coder who specializes in the development of World Wide Web applications using a client-server model and also he is specifically involved in web development. The applications usually use client Code, CSS, and JavaScript, PHP, ASP.NET (C #), or Java on the server and HTTP for client-server communications.

Why should you be a Web Developer?

Technology plays a vital role in our daily lives, ranging from the simplest of applications to the greatest inventions.
